Bloodwork and PMR

Today is Monday, July 10, 2023 and the countdown has begun…Hopefully my kids will be back in 10 days and I can’t wait! Woohoo!!! This is the longest I’ve ever been apart from them and I miss them so much…They’ve been having such a great time there and that’s been the one thing keeping me going…knowing how happy they are there, surrounded by family, love, attention and lots and lots and lots of fun! Looking forward to the day they arrive so I can kiss them and squeeze them again. ربي يردهم بالسلامة ان شاء الله.

First thing on the agenda for today was my weekly bloodwork at Amiri Hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 8:20 am and headed first to the 6th floor rheumatology department to pick up the paperwork for a blood test my dermatologist asked me to get done. Once we collected that document we headed back down to the ground floor and went straight to the laboratory. It took a bit longer than it usually does because they had to verify that the hospital actually does this newly requested blood test…Turns out they do it! The result will come out in 3 weeks for that test but my weekly routine blood test results should be out by tomorrow. Once we finished from there we headed to the pharmacy to pick up Vitamin-D supplements I need to take once monthly for 2 months. By 9:20 we were done with Amiri Hospital but unfortunately I forgot to pack my medication that I’m supposed to take at 9:00 daily so we had to go back home, picked that up then I headed to PMR.

We started first with OT at 10:00 and we focused mainly on upper body range, mobility and strength. Half way through the session, after seeing how hard I was working my arm muscles, my therapist gave me a much-needed break and used a hand-held device that emanates slight heat and vibrations to help release the tension in the muscles. She used it on my arms, shoulders, back and very briefly on my legs. It felt incredible! The closest feeling to getting a massage, but it wasn’t really a massage. I actually closed my eyes and was about to doze off for a second until she told me it was time to get back to my exercises. Back to work…

Speaking of work, my PT session today was a lot of hard work…My therapist was very happy with my performance in the pool yesterday and she believed my muscles were ready to be challenged. So starting today we increased the repetitions to all the lower-body exercises we usually do. It was the first time I felt the session was this tiring and strenuous. We even added 10 minutes on the treadmill at the end. By 12:00 I was done…Zero energy left and ready to go home and rest. The only homework for today is to walk for 15 minutes consecutively…nothing I can’t handle hopefully. More updates coming your way tomorrow!

اللهم إنّي أسألك أن تُسعد أولادي وأن ترضى عنهم وترحمهم وتغفر لهم، وتُبعدهم عن المعاصي يا كريم يا رب.
