Today is Wednesday, August 16, 2023 and I was scheduled for my upper endoscopy and colonoscopy today at Royale Hayat Hospital. As I had mentioned in yesterday’s post, I didn’t go to PMR today because of my scheduled procedure and I was so ready to just do it and get it over with. We arrived at the hospital at 12:00 noon and headed to the 5th floor where the operating rooms are. I got many flashbacks and deja vu moments since I had all three of my deliveries at this hospital, on the same floor. The nursing staff was great during all the prep procedures, except for one minor incident. As one of the nurses was trying to insert the cannula in me, she couldn’t seem to prick my vein in the right way, so the vein swelled and another nurse had to take over. It was painful, especially as she was applying pressure to reduce the swelling and stop the bleeding. I only took one quick glance and saw a little blood but that was enough to set things in motion. Because I haven’t eaten since yesterday, I started feeling a little nauseous and light headed at the sight of just a drop of my blood. I told the nurses I felt like I was going to faint…and I know when I’m about to faint! I start sweating profusely, my blood pressure starts dropping, which it was, and I feel really, really, really dizzy. They put some oxygen for me, took off the blanket covering me and started fanning me. With each passing minute I was feeling better and less light headed. The last thing I needed was to go into the procedure feeling like I’m about to faint. Thankfully, by the time I was wheeled into the room I was feeling good again. The doctor briefly explained what will happen and before I knew it I was out. Completely out. I woke up 45 minutes later in the recovery room, slightly disoriented, but so relieved it was all over. My husband was called in to the recovery room and the doctor came to see me and tell us that everything looked good and there was nothing to worry about. Two biopsies were taken and those results will be shared with me on Monday. ان شاء الله مافي الا العافية يا رب.
الحمد لله رب العالمين حمدا لشُكرهِ وأداءً لحقهِ، ولِحُبهِ رجاءً ولفضلهِ نماءً ولثوابهِ عطاءً.
