Today is Sunday, September 3, 2023 and it’s the first day of school for my kids! It’s crazy how time flies and the summer is over already. I feel like they just started their summer break! It’s a great feeling to be going back to a routine and some sort of structure for them and for me. They’ve been excited to get the school year started so that’s always a comforting feeling that they’re ready for what’s to come. After an early wake up, a few pictures here and there, we were heading to school to drop them off. When we arrived there my husband went inside with them while I waited in the car. It filled my heart with joy to see the excitement and the energy of all the kids (including mine) and the parents as they were entering the school. I love that my kids go to the same school their father and I went to…It’s such a reassuring feeling of comfort and familiarity. ان شاء الله سنة خير على الجميع.
After school drop-off we headed to Amiri Hospital for my bloodwork. We arrived at 7:30 am, exactly when the laboratory opens…Perfect timing! It was a quick, very familiar process and we were done within 10 minutes. I passed by the physical therapy department to say hi to my physical therapist during my hospital stay but unfortunately she wasn’t there. She called me later to see if I was still around but I had already reached my home. We caught up quickly and it was lovely to hear that she’s doing well. الحمد لله.
I know it’s been a while since I’ve last posted but here’s a quick recap of the past few days…Starting on Tuesday and progressing on Wednesday and Thursday I was feeling very fatigued and drained…Physically and emotionally. I forced myself to do my exercises on Wednesday, by Thursday I was only able to walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes max and by Friday I was on the couch the whole day. Yesterday was a little better…I was able to do my exercises but without any weights. At least I was moving a bit more than I had been. In general I haven’t been as energetic as I was and I just feel like sitting or laying down all the time.
I was constantly checking the Q8Seha app for my results from today’s bloodwork but every time I checked it kept saying ‘Pending’…Aaahhh I just wanted to know what my CK level was! Finally at 3:45 pm my doctor messaged me with my results…The good news is my protein level has come up a bit. It’s still low but hey, at least it’s coming up! On the the other hand, my CK levels have come up slightly since the last blood test…It was a bit discouraging to hear this but this is expected as I’ve come down to the lowest dose of my cortisone medication. I’ve mentioned before that this is going to be a trial and error phase until we figure out my proper maintenance dosage. For now my doctor told me to increase my dose slightly starting tomorrow for 1 week then the following week we’ll go back down to the lowest dose again. ان شاء الله خير يا رب.
اللهم أسألك أن تكفيني شرّ كلّ ذي شرٍّ، و أسألك فرجاً قريباً وصبراً جميلاً، وأسألك العافية من كلّ بليةٍ.
