A Minor Hiccup

Today is Sunday, March 10, 2024 and it’s my daughter Yasmine’s 14th birthday! Woohoo! We spent this past weekend celebrating her birthday and it was lovely seeing her so excited and happy as she was showered with love from family and friends. After her Friday night celebration with her friends at our home, I went to bed feeling super drained from the hectic day we all had. Little did I know what was about to come my way…It started at 1:35 a.m. when I woke up feeling nauseous and found myself rushing to the the bathroom where my first vomiting session took place…Ugggh not a nice feeling at all! This continued 3 more times, me rushing from my bed to the bathroom, until I literally couldn’t physically get up and so found myself laying down on the bathroom floor from 4:30 until 5:50 when my husband woke up and came to help me up. I knew I was dehydrated and needed to go to the hospital for a drip but it was the last thing I could think of doing. I just wanted to sleep and get some rest. After a couple of hours catching up on my sleep I messaged my doctor to let her know what happened and as I’ve always said before, I love my doctor for being so available and response the way that she is. She was actually out of town on vacation but still messaged me back immediately and told me to go to the ER at Amiri Hospital. Since men are not allowed in the ER, I asked my sister to take me and she rushed right over to pick me up while my other sister met us there as soon as we arrived (Thank God for sisters). There were quite a few deja vu moments for me yesterday…First, it was going to Amiri ER the day after my daughter’s birthday (last time it was Shaikha’s birthday in May), which was also on a Saturday, and once I was in the observation unit I found them wheeling me to the same bed I was in back in May! Too many coincidences but thank God after 3 hours of blood tests, IV fluids given, X-ray taken I was discharged and sent home. It was a case of gastroenteritis that just needs some minor meds, rest and hydration. These things happen…Thankfully it didn’t lead to anything more. Don’t forget to appreciate every day you and your family and loved ones are in good health.

ربي يديم الصحة والعافية على الكل ومبارك عليكم الشهر جميعا.
