Friendships and Physio

Today is Wednesday, July 5, 2023…exactly 9 months ago is the day I got COVID and my world turned upside down. It’s crazy how much time has passed since then but it’s also crazy how much has happened in those 9 months! I will always, always repeat this…I’m so grateful to finally be diagnosed and even more thankful to finally be under treatment. ألف الحمد لله.

I forgot to mention in yesterday’s post that since my CK levels are decreasing, we’re continuing to taper down my cortisone medication by 5 mg weekly. I’ve noticed that with the decrease in my weekly dose, my sleep has gotten gradually better. Not every night is a perfect night’s sleep but overall my sleep has improved over the past couple of weeks. I woke up refreshed and energized after the day I had yesterday and I was ready to tackle the day. I received a call from PMR at 8:00 am that my occupational therapist had to cancel today’s session so I only had physical therapy at 11:00…that’s it! I couldn’t believe I had just one appointment for the whole day…I was so excited! I knew three of my friends were meeting up for coffee at 9:30 and I really wanted to see them. With the cancellation of my 10:00 am appointment I asked them to detour and come have coffee at my place before I had to head out for my PT appointment. What a lovely start to my day that was…especially with these lovely ladies (unfortunately 2 others from our group couldn’t make it). But it’s friendships like these, friendships that have lasted a lifetime, that truly uplift me and warm my soul. Nothing beats connecting with your childhood friends…my heart was filled with true happiness this morning. Thank you ladies.

I arrived at PMR for my physical therapy session at 11:00 on the dot. My therapist told me she would be away on vacation on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week so I was placed with another therapist during her absence. Our session today was very punctual and straightforward. We continued on the same exercises I had done with my PT on Monday and just built on those. I felt revitalized and energized and ready for the rest of my day. I’m happy today was a chill, calm day because tomorrow is going to be a busy one!
