Today is Tuesday, August 8, 2023 and it was a long day. I woke up knowing that I had 4 appointments today but I honestly didn’t think I would be this exhausted by the day’s end. Let’s start at the very beginning…I had the pleasure of having my supportive daughter, Shaikha, join me at PMR this morning. As always, my first appointment was physical therapy and I was scheduled to do my session in the hydro pool. Unfortunately when I arrived they told me that there was a problem with the chlorine level but the maintenance team was working on it. In the meantime, I completed 20 minutes on the treadmill at 4.0 speed, followed by a 5 minute session of the deep oscillation machine on my lower back. Now it was time to get into the pool…Shaikha thought it was so cool the way the pool floor functions! We did a 30 minute session of lower body exercises and ended with me swimming two laps in breaststroke. Woohoo! I can swim!

After showering and getting dressed it was time for occupational therapy. We continued working on upper body strengthening, building on the exercises from yesterday. My therapist asked Shaikha to join in on some exercises. Lucky me! It’s support like this that gets me through it. Thank you Shaikha. We were done by noon and headed straight home to get some rest.

The third appointment for the day was my weekly Zoom therapy session at 2:00. I went into the session today feeling so much better than I did last week. I knew the virus I caught had really effected me physically and emotionally…So it felt good to be in a better place mentally this week. We covered a lot of topics but one of the main focuses was how I’ve changed…Changed in my priorities, my way thinking, my perspective on things and how that’s helping me discover my authentic self. Life is a journey of self-discovery, isn’t it?

After a quick lunch and some family time, I got ready and headed out to my next appointment at Royale Hayat Hospital with the gastroenterologist at 4:00. I was in at 4:15 and was so happy to see this doctor as I had not seen her in 23 years! Yes, once upon a time we went to school together. I asked if she wanted the long version or the short version of my story. She chose the long. I went through it as fast as I could from the very very very beginning. It was a lot! We scheduled my upper endoscopy and colonoscopy for next Wednesday at 1:00 pm. But first I had to go to the lab to complete some tests for the insurance approval. It took forever! I finally got home by 6:30 depleted and drained. It felt good getting so much done today, but I looking forward to tomorrow’s light(er) schedule.

اللهم اني أسألك لطف القدر وحلاوة الأيام وسعادة الروح وراحة القلب.
