Today is Tuesday, August 15, 2023 and it was a back to back to back kind of day. My first appointment for the day was physical therapy and we continued with the same exercises we did yesterday for my lower body. All the leg movements were done standing and with the ankle weights on. My therapist challenged me today by having me do my squats without holding on the bar! I didn’t think I could complete the reps but thankfully I did! We ended the session with 20 minutes on the treadmill and reached the speed of 4.7…First time I see this number a loooong time. Baby steps.

Since I didn’t have my occupational therapy session yesterday, my lovely sister Reem, decided to come again today to see me during my OT session. Yay! I had someone cheering me on. How lucky am I? We worked on my upper body strengthening, along with some hand exercises for my fine-motor skills. The tools I used today are shown in the picture above. My therapist challenged me by introducing new moves with added weights! What’s great about both my therapists is that even when I don’t think I can do a move, they really push me and encourage me to try and I end up doing it. So thank you to both of them!

I had a few hours before my next appointment and it was spent catching up with a very dear family friend who asked to pass by and see me. I’m so grateful to have her, and so many other supportive friends, in my life. It’s these meaningful relationships, at times like this, that really matter in life.

Next up, my Zoom therapy session. I always, always feel good once it’s over but that comes at a price of a lot of work during the session. Mentally and emotionally I’ve been going through a lot lately, as you can imagine, and my therapist has really helped me come to terms and learn to accept what’s happening to me. I’m still a work in progress though.

Tomorrow I’m scheduled for my upper endoscopy and colonoscopy at 1:00 pm so I will not be attending my PT and OT sessions at PMR earlier in the morning. Hopefully all goes well.

اللهمَّ ألبسني ثوب الصحة والعافية عاجلًا غير آجلٍ يا أرحم الراحمين.
