Today is Sunday, August 20, 2023 and I can’t believe this is my last week at the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center. While the past two months flew by, they also draaaaagged on forever. It seems like it was yesterday I was starting my therapy sessions at PMR…Not two months ago!
I woke up this morning from a restful night’s sleep, after a weekend of some fun and relaxation, ready to conquer the week ahead. As we’re in full back-to-school mode, I had an early start to my morning at the uninform store in my kids’ school. From there I headed straight to PMR for my physical therapy session in the hydro pool. Unfortunately, the pool pump wasn’t working so all of today’s sessions were cancelled. Instead, my PT wanted to work on floor exercises that would help with my functionality of getting down and up from the floor. We did some exercises that involved me sitting down and getting back up from the floor, stretching and reaching to work on my balance and coordination while in kneeling superman position, as well as using the exercise ball pictured above to help with my balance and stability. It’s tough work! We ended our session with a 30-minute walk on the treadmill and I reached a speed of 5.0…Achievement!
My OT session, as always, involved exercises targeting my upper body strength and range of motion. We used wrist weights while doing the moves which made some of the exercises even more challenging. We targeted my back muscles, shoulders, biceps and triceps…My triceps were the weakest but that’s common as they’re usually under utilized. My OT, and PT, told me today that I need to start remembering all the exercises we’ve been doing so I can continue working on them on my own starting next week. Overall today was a good day and I hope the rest of the week will be just as good.
اللهم إنا نسألك المعافاة في الدنيا والآخرة.
