Today is Monday, August 21, 2023 and I woke up excited to get back into the pool for my PT session. I was glad they called me from PMR this morning and informed me that the pool pump was working today. I arrived a little early since the swimming session starts at 9:45 am. It was a good 30-minute aqua workout today that involved some leg work, arm movements with the pool dumbbells and a 5-minute run on the water treadmill shown above. Yes, I was running in the water! In the picture above, the pool level is at ground level but when we’re all in the pool it actually submerges and the water reaches shoulder-level. Clearly I’m still so fascinated by this hydro pool and how it functions!
After a quick shower, I got dressed and went to my occupational therapy session. We spent 30 minutes working on my upper body strength using a wall mounted pulley tower. We used a maximum weight of 2 kgs but even that was daunting during some of the exercises! I told my therapist that I tried to do a push-up at home yesterday but couldn’t…She told me it will take some time to get there but to keep doing wall push-ups for now. I might not be able to do a push-up just yet but I was able to finally pray standing! The last time I was able to do this was back in March…Baby steps, baby steps.
Even though I didn’t do a blood test this week, my doctor messaged me this morning and told me to reduce my cortisone dose by 5 mg starting today since we’re tapering it down each week. This is always a good feeling.
I forgot to mention in yesterday’s post that a quick assessment was done by the therapist who initially saw me when I was first transferred to PMR. She was the one who recommended the 2-month Daily Care program for me. She was very happy to see my progress these past two months, as am I. الحمد لله. This assessment is part of their routine wrap-up procedures as my days at PMR are slowly coming to an end. I’m happy today was another great day and hopefully there will be many more to come.
اللهمَّ لك الحمد على العافية، ولك الحمد على كلّ نعمةٍ أنعمت بها علينا.
