Today is Wednesday, November 15, 2023 and it’s been a couple of weeks since we’ve tweaked my medication. I’m happy to report that there’s been wonderful progress on that front. Since we upped my cortisone medication I noticed that my energy was back, my joints weren’t aching as much as they had been and overall I was feeling good…I started going out more and being more active, seeing more family and friends, and just feeling like I’m in a better place الحمد لله. I had my two-week bloodwork and follow-up with my doctor on Sunday of this week and she was very happy to see me looking better and feeling better than the last time she had seen me. I told her my my knee pain was still there so she did a quick ultra-sound check in her room but saw nothing concerning. She said it could be the effect of when we had lowered my cortisone medication previously and that it may just need some time as my body adjusts to the new levels of the medication. We decided to wait a couple of more weeks and see if it improves, or not, and then act accordingly. As for my cortisone medication, we’ll proceed with a very gradual tapering method so my body responds well to it and doesn’t go through the withdrawal symptoms I faced earlier. I’ll check-in with my doctor after two weeks to see what the next step will be with lowering the dose even further. When my bloodwork results were out we were all so happy…My CK level continues to be in the normal range, and even my protein has stabilized الحمد لله. My doctor said now that two months have passed and all my bloodwork, especially my CK level, has been normal, then she considers me in remission. Wow! I really couldn’t believe I was hearing this word this early in my treatment ألف الحمد لله. This means there’s no inflammation in my muscles or skin for the time being. For now I will continue taking my meds, exercising, and doing what I’ve been doing to maintain this يا رب. My doctor told me that it was safe for us to do the bloodwork to check on all my levels once a month moving forward instead of ever two weeks…Relief I must say! The past six months since my diagnosis have been crazy, to say the least…A lot has happened and it’s taken a lot of hard work and lots and lots and lots of patience on my part to reach this point. I know the battle continues but I’m truly blessed to be where I am today when I think of where I was just six months ago.
