Today is Sunday, November 26, 2023 and I’m so happy to say that things have been great since my last post two weeks ago. This slower tapering down of my cortisone medication was just what my body needed. I actually spoke with my doctor this morning and she’s also happy that I’ve been feeling good and that I’ve been more active. We’re going down to 1/2 a pill daily for the next two weeks starting today and then we’ll see where to go from there depending on how I’m feeling. Hopefully this continues and there are no set backs from now until then.
It’s been a good four weeks now that I’ve been more energetic, more active, in better spirits and just overall in a better place الحمد لله. However, in the past month there have been a number of times that some level of guilt sets in because I feel like maybe I should be doing more or socializing more or being more productive now that I’m feeling better…But to be honest I’m happy with where I’m at….I’m content with this momentum. I don’t want to go back to my non-stop, fast paced routine that I was living before all of this happened. I also want to be careful not to push myself and end up taking 10 steps back. For now I’m thankful for feeling good and I’m taking this opportunity to spend quality time with my family and close friends. Baby steps for now…And I’ll get to where I want to be eventually.
On Thursday of last week I had my follow-up appointment with my dermatologist. She was also happy to see me looking and feeling good. I had a few questions which she answered and then we talked more about how I really need to be careful while out in the sun…Especially now that the weather has been lovely and I’ll probably be spending more time outdoors than I have been. Sunblock is just the first layer of protection I must apply. Then I should start wearing UPF clothing for additional protection (I’ve already bought a few items online). Of course a wide-brimmed hat is always essential, and additionally an umbrella on really sunny days. She also reminded to be extra careful of getting sick as that could trigger a flare up for me. I usually wear a mask at all the indoor places I go to, I try to avoid crowded places and I’m careful to sanitize and wash my hands as often as possible. One can try to be as cautious as possible but there’s always a possibility of catching something!
For now I plan to keep doing what I’m doing and hope for the best…That’s all anyone can do anyway!
اللهم بك استعين وعليك اتوكل، اللهم ذلل لي صعوبة أمري وسهل لي مشقته وأرزقني من الخير كله أكثر مما أطلب وأصرف عني كل شر.
