Long Awaited Updates

Today is Tuesday, September 9, 2025 and it’s been quite a while since my last post. Here’s what’s happened in the past few months. In May I did all my annual screenings – mammogram, tumor markers, endoscopy/colonoscopy, pap-smear, and CT for chest, abdomen, and pelvis. It’s the third time I do these checkups and at this point they felt pretty routine and easy. Thankfully everything came back good الحمد لله – a huge weight was lifted off of me. In June I travelled with my family, and we ended up going to a beautiful beach destination for about a week. At first I was skeptical and hesitant – how can I avoid the sun at a beach destination? What if the sun triggers a flare up for me? My mind was racing with negative ‘what if’ scenarios! I decided to try to be as prepared as I can by buying the appropriate UPF swimsuits and cover ups, packing my sun protective clothing, umbrellas, hats, sunscreens, you name it, and to just go and make the most of our time there. Of course I was as careful as I could be in terms of being under the shade whenever I could, not swimming at peak UV times, and making sure to reapply sunscreen every two hours. Thankfully everything worked out and we ended up having an amazing time! It was great that I was prepared and it helped ease my mind that I was doing whatever I could to be careful, but I realized that sometimes we tend to build things up to be bigger and scarier than they really are. Sometimes we just have to relax and trust that everything will be fine. Going to a beach destination for a week felt like a huge milestone for me and made feel more open and easy about any future beach-related plans that may come my way. In July I developed this burning and itchy sensation in my eyes and the skin around my eyelids turned a slight pinky color. I was worried that it could be a flare up so I went to see my doctor. Upon her initial examination she said it’s probably just allergies, but she referred me to an ophthalmologist just to confirm. She also asked that I do my 3-month bloodwork and although all the results were good she wanted to hold off on lowering my medication dosage until we October’s results. The eye doctor confirmed that it was just allergies and nothing to worry about. My next 3-month bloodwork is coming up in early October ان شاء الله خير.

On a personal note, I completed my coaching hours and passed my program’s exam! I’m officially a certified personal coach now. Yay! It feels like a great accomplishment and honestly I’m proud of myself for doing this course and completing it. If anyone out there is looking for a personal coach, feel free to reach out. Until next time, stay safe and healthy and live your life to the fullest!
